The Customer Service Billing Specialist is responsible for supporting the backend billing function for R1 RCM (R1) customer sites across the United States. Reporting directly to the department manager, the primary goal is to ensure maximum revenue for our clients. With strong attention to detail and the ability to think outside the box, the Customer Service Billing Specialist would be responsible for delivering top services by answering inbound patient/provider phone calls, resolving patient/provider billing issues, working all relevant billing reports and responding to inquiries from various physician billing service sources.

Your day to day role will include:

Answer incoming patient calls within department standards
Answer questions and assist patients regarding billing issues
Establish payment plan within department standards
Understand billing guidelines and payer requirements
Review and process Bankruptcies, NSF checks, patient correspondence
Review self-pay accounts for insurance, update patient accounts and submit claims
Review accounts/apply appropriate adjustments as needed
Report payments and removals to collection agency
Comply with all government and third-party payers regulatory mandated requirements for billing and collections.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information under HIPPA guidelines.
Meet departmental productivity and quality standards in time frame given upon completion of training.

You Have:

3 years’ experience billing government and non-government claims
3 years’ experience using billing software such as, Athena, Cerner, EPIC, Invision, Sorian, Meditech
High School Diploma or GED
Understanding how to read an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) form.
Computer literacy skills, including Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Office products.
Enhanced communication and customer service skills.
Ability to be self-directed, coupled with exemplary time management skills and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
