Position Description:   

The Associate Director will report to the Resource Center Director. The primary responsibility of this role is Resource Center support and engagement, oversight of Resource Center Specialists and Coordinators, and support of Director in management of the Resource Center. This individual will oversee Resource Center responsibilities and the implementation of support, education and engagement programs for the community MDA serves.  Additionally, the Associate Director will resume the responsibilities of the Resource Center Director in the event the Director position is vacant, absent, or on leave. The Associate Director may be asked to assist with other high-level initiatives. The Associate Director will be engaged in support of clinical settings but will not at any time provide direct patient care or dispense medical advice.   


  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with MDA Care and Clinical Services staff providing  communication with and support of team members; collaborating across the MDA to develop and design processes to improve information sharing internally and externally.  
  • Manage Specialists and Coordinators in the Resource Center and support the Director in the oversight and management of the Resource Center team.  
  • Coordinate with other MDA staff nationwide with regards to management/promotion of information, educational offerings, and resources in support of the community the MDA serves.
  • Develop processes to centralize and maintain accurate and complete list of events and activities by territory, including pertinent details around accountabilities, budgets, and other aspects as set out in national event and activity calendar template  
  • Support Director in annual strategic planning and business planning activities   
  • Support Director in management of budgets and financial accountability for the Resource Center   
  • Responsible for the registration of families, assisting current families and maintaining the family database  
  • Works with Director to implement program improvement modifications  
  • Become knowledgeable of state and local resources that could benefit MDA’s community and incorporate this into the Resource Center’s catalog of resources.  
  • Assume the role of the Resource Center Director during a vacancy and/or time off/PTO/leave  
  • Assist and work closely with the Director to ensure quality data management in applicable technology systems.
  • Manage the Resource Center’s calendar, reviewing and approving activities and events
  • Supporting the Resource Center Director as needed on projects and initiatives
  • Oversee and manage improvements in the Emergency Preparedness plan to include outreach through multiple channels, primarily text and email  
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a social services or health-related field and significant related experience is required. Advanced degree in a related field is desired.  
  • A minimum of 4 years of previous experience in health care institutions, voluntary health organizations or related field or industry highly preferred.  
  • Previous experience managing or leading a project and/or team.  
  • Successful track record in program implementation and relationship building.  
  • Advanced level Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Access, SharePoint, design programs and customer relationship management software.   Previous experience with Salesforce highly desired.
  • Ability to travel in support of MDA sponsored events.
  • Comfortable interacting with families from diverse disability, cultural and economic backgrounds within a demanding call center environment.
