Job Title: Early Childhood Educator (E.C.E)

Employer: Happyland Early Learning Academy Ltd. DBA Happyland Learning Centre

Job Location: 20165 91A Avenue Langley, BC V1M 3A2

Salary: $17.10 hourly for 40 hours per week

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Terms of Employment: Permanent and Full-time, 40 hours per week (Schedule may vary)

Number of positions: 2

Employment Conditions: Day, Evening, Morning, Weekend

Languages: English

Education: Completion of college program in early childhood education or bachelor’s degree in child development is required

Experience: Previous experience of working in relevant field will be an asset.

Certification: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate is required
Specific Skills
• Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children;
• Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
• Provide opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity,
• Supervise and co-ordinate activities of other early childhood educators and early childhood educator assistants
• Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits,
• Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor,
• Establish guidelines for behaviour,
• Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members,
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers,
• Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
• Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers,
• Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children,
Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Medical exam; Criminal record check

Work Site Environment: Non-smoking

Transportation/Travel Information: Public transportation is available
Other: Position open and available to Aboriginal youth, new immigrants to Canada and others.
