Payroll Specialist

The ideal Payroll Specialist believes in, and is passionate about the mission and commitments of Rentokil and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection and collaboration to ensure success across the organization. This role will assist the Human Resource Department with Payroll and other duties as assigned.


Essential Duties and responsibilities, listed but not limited, below:

  • Help process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls, using various legacy time systems, review and assure accuracy of employee Paid Time Off and other related calculations as needed

  • Input data into an automated system related to payroll, timekeeping and personnel information to maintain accuracy and update records

  • Verifies payroll documents and reports for accuracy and adherence to legal mandates, policies and operational guidelines

  • Willing to learn payroll related issues and find resolutions.

  • Provides courteous, flexible and satisfactory customer service by responding to routine timekeeping and payroll inquiries, making changes to employee information, resolving discrepancies and/or clarifying procedures for employees, supervisors, managers and others, both in person and over the phone

  • Prepares a variety of forms, correspondence, inter-departmental memos, inputs documents and reports to provide departmental payroll/personnel support

  • Receives, reconciles and audits computer payroll output reports

  • Helps prepare and provide employees with needed information pertaining to W2 earnings

  • Performs other related duties as required

  • Regular attendance, dependability and punctuality in conformance with the standards is essential to the successful performance of this position

Experience, Education, Skills & Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years related experience required

  • Ultimate Software knowledge is a plus

  • Certified Payroll knowledge is a plus

  • Knowledge of garnishments or willingness to learn is a plus

  • Tax experience with multi-state, multi-location a plus

  • Knowledge of the overall operations of a payroll/personnel department, including activities relating to wages, salaries, attendance, employee benefits, the automated processing of payroll, timekeeping and personnel transactions; and basic mathematical concepts

  • Ability to analyze problems and discern related to payroll and timekeeping

  • Relate tactfully and effectively with others

  • Communicate clearly and effectively in routine and stressful situations

  • Prepare a variety of payroll documents and records

  • Input data accurately into an automated system

  • Comprehend and interpret procedural and other information relating to payroll operations

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Power Point

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills a must

  • Plan, organize and make sound judgments and decisions, input, retrieve, download, merge and output information from various software programs and systems

  • Work effectively under pressure and deadlines

  • A very detail-oriented, thorough and well-organized person

  • Patience, persistence, and excellent communication skills

  • The ability to adapt, while we adjust our systems to improve our performance

  • Positive attitude

  • Genuine interest in how our systems work, and an ability to constructively suggest improvements
