We are a 22 bed rural hospital with an outstanding record of performance, fiscal responsibility and quality patient care. Our Hospital serves the growing communities of Carleton Place, Beckwith Township, Mississippi Mills and Ottawa West.

Job Description: Reporting directly to the Vice President of Corporate Support Services, the Manager of Facilities and Environmental Services is responsible for providing operational direction to employees of the Facilities and Environmental Services departments. Accountable for overseeing services such as facility and plant operations, building and equipment maintenance, grounds, infrastructure renewal and renovation projects, contracted services, building systems and monitoring provincial/ federal code requirements and general maintenance, housekeeping and laundry services. The incumbent provides direction and daily management to maintenance staff, external contractors and Environmental Services personnel in order to carry out and maintain maximum efficiency in a cost-effective manner to meet the needs of the Hospital. This position plays a leading role in emergency preparedness and has overall accountability for fire, safety and security within the hospital.

Mandatory Requirements

Possession of a Facilities Management certificate

Five (5) years Previous Management/Supervisory experience in a unionized environment

Knowledgeable of the Occupational Health and Safety Legislation

Certification in Maintenance Mechanics, Stationary Engineer or equivalent from a recognized college would be preferred

Three (3) years’ experience in facility, equipment building systems, plant & HVAC maintenance and preventative maintenance

Working knowledge of Environmental Service standards

Must have computer skills as well as experience with building automation control systems
