Job Description:
JLC Avionics, a part 145 avionic repair station located in Ashland, Oregon is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Avionics Installation Technician to join our team. This role has the potential to move into an independent Avionics Manager position.

This position is ideal for those who enjoy a fast-paced, ever changing environment. JLC Avionics values their employees and strives to offer opportunities for professional growth. The Avionics Technician must have knowledge of the installation, modification, troubleshooting, wiring and repair of aircraft avionics systems. The Technician job also requires a good avionic systems knowledge with respect to new and legacy equipment, the ability to manage resources, workload scheduling, customer interaction, competency with typical repair station paperwork, applicable FAA regulations and returning aircraft to service.

Our clients include owners of military fast jet, rotorcraft, corporate and business aircraft, general aviation, and experimental aircraft. The company services the US government and aircraft owners both nationwide and locally across the west coast.

Relevant qualifications or previous avionics shop experience required. Sheet-metal experience and/or CNC operation with AutoCAD familiarity desirable. FCC, NCATT, A&P /IA desirable but not essential.

This role is available as a full-time position.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Demonstrable, previous experience as an avionics installation technician. Experience of general aviation aircraft essential.
* Installation experience with the following manufacturers/products preferred: Garmin, Free Flight, Aspen, Avidyne, Bendix King, NAT, Narco, PS Engineering, L3 Communications, JPI, Genesys, and Electronics International.
* Working knowledge of aircraft electrical and avionic systems.
* Experience using mechanical and electrical crimping hand tools and test equipment.

* Demonstrate technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.
* Fabricate per drawings and standard practices wire bundles and assemblies to include marking of wires, properly securing wires into bundles, and termination of wires into a variety of contacts and connectors.
* Within budgeted or estimated time, perform installations, remove and replace components, perform checks and tests.
* Accurately interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, wiring diagrams, system schematics, drawings, engineering orders and other technical documents.
* Properly utilize and maintain hand tools/test equipment to perform repairs and installations.
* Be knowledgeable and conversant with relevant FAA regulations.
* Accurately document work performed.

* Experience and ability to read, interpret and follow wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and parts lists.
* Must possess excellent oral and written skills, as well as strong analytical abilities.
* Excellent concentration and attention to detail with good work efficiency and accuracy.
* Ability to think creatively, while following documentation and maintaining prescribed quality standards.
* Ability to work both in a small team environment and also unsupervised.
* Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to constant changing work assignments.
* Willingness to work overtime when required.

Physical Effort:
* Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
* Standing for long periods of time, working in confined aircraft interiors, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position.
* Must have full color vision and visual acuity with or without corrective lenses.

Other Requirements:
* Must be legally authorized to work in the USA.
* Must be able to pass pre-employment and random alcohol and drug tests.
* Must have ability to reliably travel independently to and from the workplace.
* Must be able to work in an environment where dogs are present.

JLC Avionics offers a number of benefits including health insurance, your choice of Colonial Life supplemental insurance plans, 6 observed Federal holidays and a PTO bank starting at 5 days. JLC Avionics also usually ceases all business operations on the Friday immediately after Thanksgiving and from December 24th -- January 1st. Whilst Christmas and New Years Days are paid as observed Federal Holidays, JLC also pays for the Friday after Thanksgiving, and for the workweek days that fall in between December 24th and January 1st.
