Job Description:

The Technical Innovation and Evidence Team is seeking an intern to support a discreet scope of work pertaining to the MOC study within the ongoing MA Evidence grant. Under the supervision of the project's PM, Elisabeth Eckersberger, the intern will collaborate with project specific PIs to collect and analyze project data from MOC studies in Cambodia and Ghana. The intern may also have the opportunity to participate in other portions of the evaluation, as well as other quantitative and qualitative projects. By the end of this internship, intern will create a report on the synthesized data obtained from the MOC study. The MOC project is a comparative study with the aim to determine whether important clinical outcomes differ among women who access a combined medical abortion regimen from a pharmacy when compared to those who access it from a facility. This paid position will begin in late August/ early September and continue for 10 weeks working 12 hours per week. The position is based at Ipas headquarters in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This position is designed to be an opportunity to gain tangible experience in data analysis and collaboration with research teams while completing course work.

  • Assist in analysis of quantitative data collected as part of the MOC study

  • Conducting literature or scoping reviews for project proposals as required

  • Potential for quantitative and qualitative data analysis of emerging research

  • Create a report or draft publication based on analysis conducted

  • Other duties as assigned


  • At least 3 years of a bachelors degree in public health, demography, economics, global studies, or other relevant field completed

  • Some experience in research, management, and evaluation; reproductive health or stigma experience will be an added advantage

  • Must be located in the Triangle area and be able to commute to Ipas Chapel Hill office

  • Working knowledge of Stata or R

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English


  • In-progress graduate degree in public health, demography, economics, or other relevant field

  • 1-2 years of experience in research, management, and evaluation; experience with qualitative analysis a plus

  • Familiarity with of qualitative data analysis software, such as Atlas.ti, Nvivo, or other similar

  • Demonstrated interest in sexual and reproductive health and rights as well as global health

  • Proven track record of successfully completing independent work
