Position Description:
As the Director, Medical Content for the MDA, this individual will lead our medical content team (biomedical writers, editors, and freelancers) to help identify MDA’s educational priorities, strategy, and direction. The Director will also lead the team to use their scientific knowledge to effectively and clearly communicate medical information across multiple platforms, including digital, print, and live engagements. These initiatives are aimed at raising awareness and educating healthcare providers and the community on the current and evolving treatment landscape in neuromuscular diseases.  In this leadership role within our Healthcare Communications team, the Director will collaborate across the larger Healthcare Partnership team and the MDA Scientific and Care Teams to identify and implement the organization’s educational priorities, which includes developing our Annual Scientific and Clinical Conference agenda and faculty identification. 


  • Partner with the full Healthcare Partnership/Healthcare Communications team to identify, develop, and refine MDA’s clinical education priorities and strategies
  • Manage a team of biomedical writers, editors, and freelance writers to ensure exceptional and accurate delivery of educational programs
  • Maintain routine face-to-face communication with sponsors and supporters
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of current industry practices and regulatory requirements that impact the MDA’s scientific deliverables; ensure that all deliverables are in accordance with regulations, standards, and guidelines
  • Keep up to date on current literature, emerging science, technological developments, and medical trends
  • Develop relationships with Healthcare Provider KOLs and other internal and external stakeholders and collaborate with them when creating content
  • Work with the content team to create accurate and effective needs assessments and program content based upon current literature reviews, project data analyses, and expert opinion
  • Travel to relevant conferences for the execution of educational programs as well as program coverage and information assessment
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams within the MDA to ensure consistency and accuracy of educational content across the organization

Able to provide support to multiple team members simultaneously.
  • Computer Skills: Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Docs, ability to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Initiative: Measure self against a standard of excellence.  Undertake self-development activities and learn new skills; seek increased responsibilities and ask for and offer help when needed.


  • PharmD, MD or PhD in biochemistry, neuroscience or other related fields
  • 7-10 years of experience leading medical education content delivery and teams
  • Extensive knowledge of the medical education field
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
  • Ability to interpret and present clinical data and other complex information
  • Thorough understanding of ACCME, FDA and ICH regulations and guidelines
  • Experience delivering content across multiple platforms, including manuscripts, slide decks, news articles, etc
