Associate Director, Marketing Analytics

Location: Ogilvy Health - Parsippany, NJ

Role Overview:

The Associate Director plays a vital role by working with our Healthcare clients and internal teams to maximize ROI and identify opportunities for growth through analysis of marketing communications. This includes providing guidance and development for junior analytics talents, supervising and contributing to execution and presentation of impactful analytics deliverables, driving innovative solutions and ideas, providing ad-hoc consultation and analytics thought leadership within and outside Ogilvy Health. This role requires a good understanding and knowledge of the healthcare industry having worked within the pharma marketing/advertising industry for a minimum of 4 years.

The Associate Director will develop/execute digital and multi-channel campaign measurement and analysis, test designs, ad-hoc analysis, design of complex projects as well as articulation of results/insights and analyses to internal and external clients. As a senior member of the Marketing Analytics team, the Associate Director is a team leader who leverages advertising data and client internal data to provide insights and information to make marketing programs optimally effective. The Associate Director will be responsible for growing existing client relationships as well as be directly aligned with new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for advancing the client's business with intelligent, quantitatively-derived insights and recommendations. Collaborate with Accounts and clients before, during and after all marketing plans are deployed, ensuring proper metrics are set up, data is collected succinctly, and results are converted into insights with a clear action plan.


  • As the leader of the team, deliver a positive client image on behalf of the entire team and assume the position of a lead and establish an effective client-contact system within the team

  • Design and lead effective presentations and communicate business value derived from each engagement to senior clients. Provide clear direction and translate overarching objectives to individual contributors by connecting individual contribution to overall success. Interact with other OH practice groups' senior managers to clarify the role of analytics on engagements. Development of an enterprise wide data and marketing analytics strategy.

  • Set direction for digital and multi-channel analytics analysts on the team. Actively participate in and be proactive in the consultative selling of our services through the account teams and directly to clients.

  • Lead team management of all client project time tables, assign and scope key resources, and ability to scope technical requirements for delivering measurement/analytics plans.

  • Develop analytics proposals and deliver analytics solutions, including definition of deliverables, timing, costs; execution of that work and presentation to the client

  • Scope technical requirements for delivering measurement/analytics plans

  • Identify and provide guidance for required data and data capture mechanisms (eg registration forms, transactional data, 3rd party data, website traffic data, online survey data, etc.)

  • Provide oversight of data analysis and interpretation of results in business context, with detailed findings and implications presented to key stakeholders at all levels

  • Closely collaborate with client team and internal teams (marketing analytics, account management, digital/engagement, planning, etc) to socialize findings to improve campaign performance and user experience.

  • Lead account team discussion to develop marketing measurement solutions comprising defining measurement strategy, vision, and requirements to support business objectives and improve decision making processes.

  • Manage business requirements and identifies measures, approaches and methodologies for measuring success against objectives.

  • Establish measurement infrastructure for data capture, analysis, and statistics

  • Maintain a functional expertise in non-personal promotions (NPP), multi-channel marketing, analytical tools, techniques, and other similar requirements.

  • Keen ability to visualize data through graphing/ charting/ information display skills (strong Power Point skills are essential)

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills are needed along with top-tier communication and listening skills

  • Experience managing analytics staff

  • 8+ years' experience in marketing analysis, quantitative consulting, database marketing and/or research within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry


  • Bachelors Degree in Quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, or Finance, Mathematics, or Business

  • Masters Degree or PhD a plus

Technical proficiency

  • Proficient in Excel, MS Access, and Microsoft Office products

  • Experience with digital analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, and GTM

  • Working knowledge of leading marketing analytics software tools such as R, SAS, SPSS, or programming languages such as Visual Basic or SQL

  • Experience with visualization tool such as Tableau, a plus
