About This Position:

The Brief Strategic Family Therapy Institute (BSFT) at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine has an exciting career opportunity for a Director, Social Services. The Director, Social Services directs, establishes, and plans the overall policies and goals for the social services department. Moreover, the Director, Social Services performs resident assessments, care planning, and helps residents and families adjust to their new surroundings. Additionally, the Director, Social Services directs a complex social services delivery system, providing a broad range of human and social services. The incumbent also directs and coordinates various services, and represents departmental interests to governmental bodies, specialist interest groups, and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or Psychology; Master's Degree preferred. At least five to ten years of postgraduate experience. Possess a valid professional license. Knowledgeable and competent in the BSFT model with demonstrated ability to teach, coach, and guide therapists practicing the BSFT model. Ability to be culturally competent, able to understand and relate experience of client and therapists from diverse ethnic groups. Knowledge of business and management principles. Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations. Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan. Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others. Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others. Possess a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, highly motivated, well organized and able to keep track of multiple meetings and tasks, tracking and recording progress in each. The manager should be proficient in verbal and written communications. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Patient safety is a top priority.
