Job Description:

General Description (Purpose and Function):

The ENCUENTROS Study is a study funded by the National Cancer Institute to recruit over Hispanic men treated for prostate cancer and undergo a Spanish language intervention program. The purpose of the study is to examine the effects of emotions, stress, and stress management techniques on quality of life distress, depression, coping, and physical health. The individual will be responsible for supporting research and administrative coordination activities of the ENCUENTROS study as well as the associated supplement study at UM Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Individual will hold a supportive role in handling daily study and administrative activities involving the collection, compilation, and documentation of research data.

  • Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clinical Research coordination duties, including screening potentially eligible participants to enroll in study, and support participant recruitment efforts.

  • Assist in the administrative aspects of the study, including reporting, accruals tracking, and preparation for study events. Prepares assessment materials and schedules space in order to conduct assessments.

  • Obtains informed consent from research participants and conducts biopsychosocial assessments

  • Assists with grant proposal document preparation.

  • Conducts library and internet-based research.

  • Administers assessments, surveys and questionnaires as needed.

  • Collects data from patient charts, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, and other sources.

  • Codes, evaluates and interprets collected data as needed.

  • Provides recommendations for new methods of data collection and documentation.

  • Organizes and handles the flow of information to and from study participants and investigators including study participant contact information and routine reporting.

  • Transports biospecimens to respective laboratories

  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent written and communication skills.

Organizational skills and detail-oriented.

Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent skills in English (both written and verbal)

Bilingual fluency (English-Spanish) is preferred.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, or other related field.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

  • Two years of documented related work experience in oncology research, psychology/social sciences research, or biomedical research required.
