About This Position

The Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting career opportunity for a Research Support Coordinator. Under the direction of the Study Coordinator, the full-time Research Support Coordinator will work on a NIDA-funded clinical trial being conducted at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and affiliated facilities and Jackson Memorial Hospital. The study has a strong medical component and includes both behavioral and clinical/assessments.

The duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruit, screen, and enroll participants into the clinical trial

  • Conduct informed consent process, collect participant locator information, and administer study assessments/questionnaires via in-person interviews with participants

  • Assist study physicians with required study assessments and activities. Activities may include phlebotomy, taking vitals, collecting medical histories, and administering intramuscular injections.

  • Complete and maintain accurate study documentation on paper source documents and electronic case report forms

  • Enter data and respond to data queries/clarifications, missing data reports, and data/quality audits

  • Identify and document participant safety events

  • Maintain close communication with study participants to track and retain participants in study; schedule participant follow-up visits

  • Adhere to the study Protocol, Manual of Operations, and Site/Local Operating Procedures

  • Establish and maintain working relationships with Jackson HIV Clinic personnel that interface with study staff and participants of the study

  • Provide support and assistance to study participants, such as accompanying them to hospital laboratory or pharmacy, reminding them of relevant appointments, etc.

  • Comply with Good Clinical Practice Standards

  • Participate in meetings related to the protocol, including communication with study investigators

  • Complete required trainings for role

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor degree in a relevant field of study. Certified Medical Assistant preferred. At least two years of relevant work experience (as a research assistant, medical assistant, and/or social worker or related field is required). Proficient computer skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal & written. Demonstrated experience in providing services to clients with multiple social, psychological, substance abuse and/or HIV related problems required. Must possess interviewing skills and knowledge of participant retention strategies. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
