Job Description:

Designs and defines system architecture for new or existing computer systems.

  1. Performs systems modeling, simulation, and analysis.

  2. Provide simulations, network and telecommunications support for exercises, training events, experiments and demonstrations. Manage and maintain US JOINT STAFF J7 exercise network LAN/WAN and premise connections while deployed to exercise locations utilizing persistent and deployable communications nodes

  3. Configure, test, install and maintain Joint Staff J7 exercise networks and long-haul communications systems used for voice, data and video applications.

  4. Install, test and troubleshoot MSPP, ATM backbone, OC-3, DS-3, Ethernet, T-1/T3 lines, modems, CSU/DSU, Cisco/Juniper routers and switches, gateways, servers, computers, premise wiring and cable distribution systems, fiber optics and the interfaces to the LAN/WAN connections.

  5. Install, troubleshoot and maintain Video Teleconference Equipment and Voice over Internet protocol Phones (VoIP) instruments.

  6. Install, configure and maintain local and remote site exercise computer workstations and network printers. Assign IP addresses and domain name administration, DNS, DHCP, have a working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange and Outlook administration.

  7. Configure, install and operate encryption devices (KG-75, KG-175, KIV 7M, KG-245). Account for Communications Security Equipment (COMSEC) materials, daily cryptographic equipment keying and disposition records

  8. Utilize network monitoring and troubleshooting application and test equipment to resolve known deficiencies (Solar winds, What's Up Gold, Fireberd/T-Berd , Wire Shark network analyzer). Work independently and with other support technicians/engineers performing analysis and resolution of reported issues

  9. Conduct site surveys at remote locations to determine equipment requirements for exercise support. Construct, read and interpret floor plans, wiring diagrams and schematics using Microsoft office tools

  10. Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system problems.

  11. Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience

5-8 years of related systems engineering experience

Active Secret Clearance

Active Security + CE Certification

Active Cisco Certification (CCENT, CCNA or JUNOS, higher)
