Turf Fuel: Technical Field Representative







Target Specialty Products is seeking a passionate, articulate, energetic person to work with the Turf Fuel Product team to support the Target Specialty Products sales team. Reporting to Manager of Turf Fuel Products Division, the Technical Field Representative's (TFR) primary responsibility is to support and educate sales staff and customers on Turf Fuel and TS Pro products, with the goal of increasing product sales. This person will provide technical product/plant health-related support to end users and communicate feedback to the Turf Fuel Team from the field.







The majority of the TFR's time will be spent with sales staff in the field with their customers and prospects. The TFR may be asked to present TF/TS Pro related information to groups of customers and potential customers. The TFR must posses a strong science background, turfgrass science related is preferred however not mandatory. This position demands an organized, self-starter with good interpersonal skills.







Essential duties and responsibilities:





  • Establishes productive, professional and consultative relationships with sales representatives and their customers/potential customers.

  • Provides technical product support to sales team and their customers.

  • Is responsible for working with TF Team and Regional Sales Managers to meet sales goals in specific geographies

  • Support TF Team with specific, delegated tasks.

  • Attend meetings, University Field Days, conferences and industry trade shows.

  • Provide weekly updates and feedback from the field to the TF Team

  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, validates sales team needs and adds value to sales team and their customers.

  • Handles any product deficiency situations that may occur within specified and agreed upon geography.








Basic Qualifications:



  • Must have a Bachelor's of Science Horticulture, plant physiology, or soil science focused study preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to execute on projects and initiatives.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Sound decision making skills.

  • Desire and ability to travel via car and airplane to support sales staff and/or attend meetings, conferences, and trade shows. Travel requirement is estimated to be between 25-35 weeks of the year.

  • Proficiency with Google applications (docs, sheets, calendar, drive, etc.)

  • Proficiency or willingness to learn Mac OS and business applications.


Preferred Qualifications:




  • Golf course industry experience.

  • Sales experience.

  • Curiosity and interest in plant physiology and science.

  • Chemistry background or basic understanding.
