Jacobs is currently seeking a NOC Technician Tier 2/Swing Shift to join their team at their customer site in the Culpeper, VA area. This position requires shift work.



The network operations center (NOC) technician provides surveillance and IP network operations troubleshooting. They identify, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents in multiple and complex local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), customer networks, Intranet and Internet and other data communication systems. This position acts as information distributors and customer representatives. They operate, maintain, and manage telecommunications facilities. Provide project management and systems integration for voice and data communication systems; supervise installation of these systems; and, provide maintenance and support to customers after installation. Specializations include data communications, TCP-IP networks, Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), COMSEC/TEMPEST, facsimile, cable-to-modem communication, RF (including satellite) communication capabilities, and repair to least replaceable



Responsibilities:




  • Dispatching to resolve network cabling and drops to workstation and peripheral equipment




  • Monitor and Identify network troubles




  • Troubleshoot and resolve network troubles




  • Perform courtesy recalls




  • Ensure network availability and reliability




  • Manage incident management workflow




  • Communicate status to customer and management team




  • Installs, maintains, manages and/or repairs carrier systems (WANs) and their constituent components






  • Active TS/SCI W/ Poly Required




  • Typically requires an Associate degree in a computer field and seven (7) years of related experience. Progressive relevant training and/or certification may be substituted for a portion of the experience requirement.




  • Professional License or Specialized Training in CCNA and ITIL Foundations is preferred




  • Someone that is new to the career field or occupation, such as a recent college graduate with either course related experience and/or full or part-time work experience totally less than three (3) years of experience specific to the skill




  • Be able to troubleshoot and resolve network issues and ensure the network is available & reliable




  • Extensive knowledge on a variety of telecommunications platforms and IT systems




  • General knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming




  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction




  • Awareness of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources




  • Shift work is required: Day, Swing, or Mid shift
