Job Description:

NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR

Crane, Indiana


Provides the lead and oversight in maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading application servers, SAN storage for production, test and development environments. These may include Windows based systems, and a variety of UNIX variants. Ensures that software updates, patches and configurations are maintained to current standards, assists with account creations and permission granting as well monitoring and tweaking system parameters to maximize system performance.

Maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading the core network infrastructure. This includes core network switches, end switches, network drawing, maintain current designs and well as developing future design requirements.

Provides guidance, support and direction to their fellow Network Administrators.

Maintains the integrity and security of network and systems.

Sets up administrator and service accounts.

Maintains system documentation.

Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.

Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.

Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

May program in an administrative language.

Develops and implements testing strategies and document results.

Provides advice and training to end-users.

Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff members, and may have supervisory responsibilities.

May serve as a technical team or task leader.

Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.

Participates in special projects as required.


Additional Responsibilities include:

Develop and maintain network architecture and infrastructure including installation, test, upgrades, and other required maintenance

Provide network configuration and documentation including network drawings and hardware and software lists

Provide network administration and network security for circuits

Provide IT strategy design and buildout services for current and emerging technologies

Follow ITIL best practices focused on aligning IT services with the needs of business

Configure and implement CS Assessment and Authorization security controls

Support the designs and development of enterprise architectures, and defines key capabilities and performance requirements

Develops technical roadmaps for future implementations.

Develops business case analysis on potential projects.

Ensures security is integrated into all architecture solutions.

Acts as a subject-matter expert to multiple tasks and/or programs.

Reviews completion and implementation of system additions and/or enhancements and makes recommendations to management and/or clients.

Evaluate new application, infrastructure and cloud decisions in existing context of applications, infrastructure, standards, current business strategy and future business strategy

Determines system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.

Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced IT staff and may have supervisory responsibilities.

Serves as liaison with clients, participating in meetings to ensure client needs are met.

Provides high level expertise to multiple projects and tasks.

Strong communication skills in dealing with other individuals involved with network infrastructure team, including IT developers, system administrators, project managers and other IT professionals overseeing mission items.

Additional Qualifications Preferred:

Professional work experience in related fields such as Infrastructure IT (Systems Administration, Network Administration Windows/Unix - Linux OS, Network Administration, Active Directory and/or Virtualization.
Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) framework of Change/Incident/Problem management.
Experience with Microsoft System Center Suite.

Experienced with VMware or other Virtual Environment platforms.

Experienced with Shell Scripting (e.g. Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby) .


Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

8-10 years of directly related experience in network administration and support.

The position requires a Secret Security Clearance and an IAT level II Compliant certification (i.e. Security+, SSCP etc).
