Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i. Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Human Resources Department, Research Corporation of the University of Hawai‘i (RCUH) Corporate Office located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, and availability of funds.

MONTHLY SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications.

DUTIES: Coordinates the management, planning, scheduling, direction and controls of a computerized HRIS/Payroll system (PeopleSoft). Performs reviews, initiates actions and audits to ensure compliance with State and Federal payroll related tax requirements and time reporting accuracy/certification. Assists in preparation and completion of payroll/tax accounting and reporting, resolution of payroll problems, payroll distribution, deductions and adjustments. Assists with HRIS Payroll process for timely and accurate payroll. Serves as Acting Payroll Operations Manager in case of absence. Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION/TRAINING: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Accounting or related experience and training e.g., five to seven (5-7) years work experience with professional training in payroll, payroll tax and accounting, or combination, which demonstrates ability to perform this job’s duties/responsibilities may substitute for the Accounting Degree). EXPERIENCE: Three to five (3-5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in accounting of multiple ledgers, with familiarity with reconciliation process, etc. At least two (2) years of experience with non-resident tax exemptions, out-of-state reporting requirements, and/or IRS penalty abatement. payroll tax preparation, payments/reporting (i.e., 941 IRS Form 941, HW-6, tax levies, etc.). Experience with Year-End closing. Preference given to experience with computerized payroll processing & reporting requirements. Supervisory experience. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Considerable knowledge of State of Hawai‘i and Internal Revenue Service payroll related rules, regulations and reporting requirements (i.e., IRS Form 941, HW-6, tax levies, etc.). Strong working knowledge of principles/practices of accounting and payroll, 10-key by touch, and business PC applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, etc.). Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check for working with highly confidential and sensitive information which includes being fingerprinted and having a federal background check performed. POLICY AND/OR REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS: As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies and procedures and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawai‘i's and/or business entity's policies and procedures. Violation of RCUH's, UH's, or business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.).

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Payroll Professional Certification. Previous payroll/accounting work experience with PeopleSoft payroll. Strong knowledge of computers, database applications, and Internet systems. Knowledge of functions, principles and practices of the RCUH accounting system and the RCUH/UH fiscal system. Working knowledge of the principles, techniques and practices of accounting.
