Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and knowledgeable individual to join our team in this highly visible position of Director of Communication. Primary responsibilities of the Director of Communication are to manage all internal and external communications for the company and lead our PR strategy. The Director of Communications will report to the VP of Strategy and Operations and will manage one direct report.


  • Develop and execute key communication programs and activities to help employees better understand the companies' strategies to drive engagement

  • Focus on supporting leadership on executive communication

  • Provides executive level communications support, ensuring communications are well-planned and delivered regarding any business related changes.

  • Critical involvement in driving inspirational story generation and dissemination throughout the business to inspire and engage employees in the future of the organization

  • Creates content for town hall presentations, manager communication decks, intranet, blogs, podcasts, videos and digests to help achieve above strategic responsibilities.

  • Lead the public relations (PR) strategy and recommend and evaluate earned media opportunities while coordinating PR activities for all internal and external events.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key media representatives, serve as point of contact for external media request.

  • Determine budget and report costs associated with internal communication and public relations needs, specifically managing all outside vendors including public relations agency and video production, for supported businesses.

  • Interface with the PR agency on crisis communication actions.

  • Writes leadership scripts or other communication content as needed.

  • Provide ongoing metrics for media coverage.

  • Writes, reviews and edits organizational announcements and other communication as needed, ensuring appropriate corporate processes are followed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, or similar discipline.

  • Minimum 10+ years progressive experience in corporate or employee communications, with an emphasis on PR and employee engagement initiatives

  • Expert writer, editor and communicator.

  • Elevated computer and social media skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word);

  • Ability to work collaboratively including with senior executives from across the organization

  • Direct experience working with various media outlets

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Excellent time management skills, and ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Position requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events
