Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose and Major Responsibilities of Position:

Support definition and execution of Global Supply Chain strategies linked to the business strategies and regional supply chain strategies for Corning Optical Communications (COC)
Evaluate and recommend how to optimize the global capacity, capability, and cost opportunities within supply chains to meet customer and delivery goals
Support strategic alignment to product life-cycle
Work collaboratively with the global and plant planners in support of balanced production and inventory planning
Assist in the development of supply chain roadmap and strategy.
Work collaboratively with Regional and Plant resources to o Support regional supply chain managers
Support global loading of demand with global supply
Evolve the global capacity model and confirm alignment with regional models
Lead projects to identify, systematize, and deploy standard methodologies for planning across the globe.
Support Product Team 1 and 5 year plan presentations
Support the global S&OP process to resolve significant current/potential supply performance problems, demand bias, instability or error rates
Design and build forward-looking networks, as required, that meet service, cost and risk aspirations.
Use segmentation to embrace the complexity that matters.
Adopt and communicate global measures of supply chain effectiveness Major Ongoing Tasks
Participate in global demand management process, and adjust network plan based on exception management on a monthly basis.
Creates, tracks, monitors and reports on global supply chain metrics across to ensure effective execution of the manufacturing and business strategies.
Leads projects to analyze Supply Chain performance and to drive lean supply chain best practices globally.
Identify opportunities to reduce total landed cost by utilizing multiple sources of supply. 2 most complex decisions indicative of this function and its impact to the function, department and/or corporation:
Recommend global manufacturing fulfillment strategy, program, infrastructure, execution for the product line.
Recommend supply chain adaptations required to achieve targeted business results. Drive related projects to successful completion. Define and monitor metrics for success.
Teams individual will support and work with: global manufacturing operations staff, project managers implementing strategy, executing footprint projects, etc. and Commercial and PLM groups.


Job Requirements:
Location:

Individual will initially work out of the COC headquarters in Hickory, NC however, position will relocate to the new HQ in Charlotte by end of Q1 2019.



Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or Engineering required.
4+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Planning or Logistics in manufacturing industry.



Required Skills:

Deep understanding of supply chain strategy best practices and philosophy in optimizing operations
Strong communication, leadership and interpersonal skills.
Superior project management, analysis and organizational skills.
Experience with demand management and S&OP process.
Strong reporting and presentation skills.



Desired Skills:

Experience facilitating process change or process improvements and directing a team through this change to completion would be a plus.
Use of Excel in a large manufacturing environment. Microsoft Office Certification for Excel 2010 or higher is a plus.
Experience in crafting and managing Excel applications, with exposure to VBA and data imports.
SAP experience would be advantageous in this role.
Prior work experience in cable manufacturing industry.
Prior experience working with global teams.
