This Information Technology (IT) technical position reflects an exclusive Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) position with strong proficiency also in Linux/Solaris (not Windows, not Mainframe).
This role will cover:
A) Performance and Tuning (database and queries)
B) Business Knowledge (Application DBA)
C) Data Management (data content mgmt)
D) Liaison to the Architecture team and
E) Reporting via SQL Queries.
-The Database Management System (RDBMS) ORACLE Database Administrator (DBA) will provide substantial Oracle database support skills toward overall Production and Non-Production database support activities including installations, configurations, upgrades, performance, tuning, backups and disaster recovery (DR), regular maintenance jobs, encryption and troubleshooting.
-This Production ORACLE DBA position will also encompass some degree of support and testing in pre-production environments.
-This ORACLE DBA position will require participation in a Production ORACLE DBA after-hours on-call rotation schedule and will also cover weekends and holidays.
-This position will require the ability to upgrade from several levels of back versions of each ORACLE database. Specific ORACLE database versions include Oracle 11g R2 and Oracle 12c.
-Due to the majority of the production operation running on Exadata, the candidate should possess this specific skill set. In addition, a higher skill set of Solaris/Linux command line and shell programming is essential (not Windows, not Mainframe).
-As part of performance improvements, the ORACLE DBA may also review SQL queries written by software developers for performance enhancements.
-The successful Production ORACLE DBA candidate should also be able to strategize, collaborate, and participate in various monitoring, performance, and analysis tasks with the goal of performance optimizations and retention of the corresponding historical monitoring metrics and statistics.
-This position is an ORACLE Production DBA (Database Administrator) role. However, some Development DBA work may also be required.
-The successful candidate must have an extensive working knowledge of UNIX and UNIX Shell Scripts, along with an automation mindset and practice.
-Additionally, SQL programming background is a very valuable asset. -Due to acquisitions and consolidations, Data Management practices will be part of the Production DBA role.
-The ideal candidate would also have some travel Business Knowledge.
