Job Description:

Position: Access Control & Communication Systems Technician
Duration/Type: Full Time
Location: Field, in and around the Greater Toronto Area
Reporting office: 62 Sprucelands Avenue, Brampton, ON L6R 1M8
Salary: $37.00 per hour; The gross salary paid is subject to applicable Federal and Provincial income taxes and other statutory deductions such as EI and CPP.
Vacation: 4% of the gross salary
Hours of Work: 30-40 Hours a week. Overtime rate (X1.5) applicable after 44 hours of work per week
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities
Install, test, and repair access control systems including card readers, electronic locks, keypads, and biometric devices.
Install, terminate, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber), patch panels, outlets, and cable trays.
Perform low voltage wiring for security cameras, audio/visual, and communication systems.
Operate and maintain tools and testing equipment to ensure proper installation and system performance.
Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine installation layout and job specifications.
Conduct pre- and post-installation site inspections to ensure compliance with client specifications and applicable standards.
Identify and troubleshoot faults in access control, low-voltage, and communication systems; perform repairs or replacements as necessary.
Collaborate with project managers, technicians, and other field crews to complete installations on schedule and within scope.

Job Requirements:
Completion of secondary school is required.
2+ years of experience installing and maintaining access control and communication systems is required.
Knowledge of low-voltage wiring, structured cabling, and networking principles (TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs) is required.
Understanding of safety and compliance standards related to security and communication systems.
Valid drivers license to travel to client sites.
