Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled AutoCAD Draftsman to join our engineering team, specializing in electrical substation design. The ideal candidate will support the development of high-voltage substation projects by producing accurate and comprehensive technical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD.
Create and revise detailed AutoCAD drawings for electrical substations, including layout, structures, foundations, and equipment placement.
Collaborate with electrical engineers and project managers to ensure drawings meet project specifications and industry standards.
Maintain drawing files and documentation in accordance with company protocols and client requirements.
Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and other design inputs to produce clear and accurate drawings.
Assist in preparing as-built drawings and documentation for completed projects.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Participate in design reviews and provide input on constructability and design optimization.
Qualifications:
Minimum Academic & Professional Requirements:
Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D required; 3D a plus).
Experience drafting for electrical substation projects or similar utility infrastructure.
Familiarity with electrical symbols, standards (e.g., IEEE, ANSI), and substation components.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of other design software (e.g., MicroStation, Revit, or Civil 3D) is a plus.
Job Requirements:
Preferred Experience:
5+ years of drafting experience in the power or utility sector.
Understanding of substation design elements such as grounding, protection & control, and physical layout.
Experience working with engineering teams and clients on large-scale infrastructure projects
Key Skills
