Job Description:
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) seeks a part-time Medical Director / Consultant to provide statewide medical guidance for the Office of Public Health Immunization Program. This role supports efforts to eliminate vaccine-preventable diseases by increasing vaccination coverage and serves as the program’s subject matter expert on immunization.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert clinical guidance on vaccine safety, use, and policy.
Advise on Vaccines for Children (VFC), LINKS, and statewide vaccine initiatives.
Consult with healthcare providers, OPH staff, regional teams, and external partners.
Draft/review Health Alert Network (HAN) messages and medical communications.
Represent the program at meetings, workgroups, and professional associations.
Deliver education and training for healthcare providers, public health staff, and community partners.
Job Requirements:
Licensed MD or DO.
Experience in vaccines, infectious diseases, epidemiology, or public health strongly preferred.
Strong communication, collaboration, and training skills.
Salary commensurate with experience.
