Job Description:
Brightshores Health System (Brightshores) is currently seeking two full-time Psychiatrists to join our dedicated team.
The Department of Psychiatry, based at the Owen Sound Hospital, support the Schedule 1 inpatient service (29 acute
and 16 Psychogeriatric beds) and provide consultation to community-based multi-agency mental health teams
throughout Grey Bruce. The psychiatrists support a comprehensive range of ambulatory programs including the Crisis
Team, Case Management teams, The Assertive Community Treatment team, Psychogeriatric assessment and
treatment, Dual Diagnosis and Aftercare Services. Successful candidates are expected to provide a mix of inpatient and
outpatient services including liaison consultation and on call coverage.
We are thrilled have opened the Wellness & Recovery Centre in our community. This first-of-its-kind facility will house
the Brightshores Addictions & Mental Health services and programming under one roof. To learn more about the

Brightshores Health System operates six hospitals in the Grey Bruce region serving a population of over 170,000. The
Owen Sound hospital is a Level 2 regional referral centre, offering a full range of specialty services through the
Departments of Anaesthesia, Medical Imaging, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Oncology, Hospitalist Medicine, Internal
Medicine, Critical Care, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (ENT, General/Thoracic Surgery, Ophthalmology,
Orthopaedics, Urology).

Facilities
With 24-hour labs, excellent specialty back-up and comprehensive diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, PACS capability), our
regional centre is exceptionally well equipped. Our brand new Markdale hospital opened its doors in September 2023,
and includes modern ambulatory care and procedure room space.

Qualifications
FRCP(C) or eligibility to practice medicine in Ontario
Remuneration:
Mixed – Sessional, Ministry of Health On-Call Coverage (HOCC) Program and Fee-for-Service
Estimated Annual Earnings: Varies based on patient volume and services provided
• Median Annual Salary: $292,341 CAD
• Based on Ontario Job Bank data (2022–2023)
