Job Description:
Station Square Medical Clinic provides high-quality family practice care and walk-in services in Burnaby, BC. Our clinic is staffed with a team of experienced physicians. We see patients of all ages for health concerns. We also offer medical aesthetic procedures and traditional Chinese medicine herbal treatments. From prevention to active treatment, the Station Square Health team strives to maintain the highest standards and best medical practices to meet our patients’ well-being and health goals.
We are now looking for a motivated and experienced herbalist with rich experience who can treat various physical conditions, illnesses and allergies through the holistic use of plants in conjunction with medical knowledge.
The herbalist must have adequate experience as well as excellent organizational skills. This position also requires mastery of multi-tasking, planning, and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, commit to providing excellent customer service, and be enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of others.
Responsibilities:
1. Counsel patients and collect valid diagnostic information, such as patients’ past medical history and lifestyle habits.
2. Evaluate patients’ symptoms and physical fitness, plan and select appropriate treatments and write prescriptions for them.
3. Guide herbal remedies and advise patients on diet, exercise, lifestyle and emotional well-being.
4. Answer patients’ inquiries about the treatment process and recommend effective chemical medications or related health care services.
5. Keep and file patient visit records and maintain the confidentiality of patient information.
6. Liaise with specialists or other healthcare practitioners and refer patients to them if necessary.
7. Keep track of the latest trends and different medicinal research in the industry to learn best practices involving plants and herbs, particularly their healing properties.
8. Follow up and re-assess the patient’s medical situation and adjust the herbal medicine if needed.
9. May cultivate and collect herbs and explain the method of using the herb and the herb benefits to the patients.
10. Prepare reports and briefs for the clinic manager.

$23 - $26 per hour

Job Requirements:
1. A bachelor’s degree in herbology, pharmacology, Chinese medicine or a related field is required; a master’s degree is considered an asset.
2. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in herbal medicine is required.
Skills Requirements:
1. Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with minimal supervision.
2. Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with patients.
3. Proficient in computer skills, including the advanced level of Microsoft Office, and can learn additional software programs quickly.
4. Attention to detail is crucial to this position.
5. Masterful skills in organization and leadership.
6. Must be able to multi-task, stay organized, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
7. Demonstrated initiative to analyze and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
8. Ability to exercise accuracy, confidentiality, tact, and discretion.
