Job Description: KAY-SON is a proudly Canadian owned fabrication plant that has been in operation since 1965. We are looking for an experienced Journeyman Steel Fabricator to join our team! Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Journeyman Steel Fabricator will be responsible for fitting, fabricating, welding, and to ensure the plant is running smoothly, efficiently, and safely. The successful incumbent must possess a good understanding of metal fabrication and demonstrate strong attention to detail. We offer a great work environment for someone looking to grow with us. Job Requirements: Tasks: Lay out reference points and patterns according to component specifications. Install fabricated components in final product. Study engineering drawings and blueprints, determine the materials required, and plan the sequence of tasks to cut metal most efficiently. Construct patterns and templates. Set up and operate various heavy-duty metal-working machines and computer numerical control (CNC) equipment. Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas or within worksite. Assemble and fit metal sections and plates. Structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication CWB/AISC standards. Manage and execution on machining requirements. Cross Train (fitting, welding, operational procedures)
Work conditions and physical capabilities:
Physically demanding. Attention to detail.
Personal suitability:
A team-oriented self-starter. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. Working knowledge to of all welding methods, procedures, and quality control. Working knowledge to of all tools and equipment i.e. saws, iron workers, shears, welding equipment. Computer skills required to perform job duties. High attention to detail. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines. Able to work well without supervision.
