Job Description:
Will be involved in the implementation, testing, and debugging of high-level compiler optimization passes designed to enhance the performance of company's machine-learning compiler including enhancing robustness of tensor parallelism (TP), a vital compiler transformation/optimization for distributing a model across multiple computing devices, in existing models allowing for scaling large models, optimizing device resources and performance enhancements; maintain a comprehensive catalog of models encompassing diverse sizes, optimization levels, and various TP modes; regularly execute the models in the catalog and consistently collect data on compilation and runtime status; when models fail to compile, promptly assess the situation by trialing and pinpointing the exact level within the compilation process where the error arises and identify the appropriate compiler team responsible for addressing the issue; if the error is unrelated to TP and falls under another group's jurisdiction, delegate the task to the relevant team, ensuring a timely resolution; if TP is indeed the source of the error, investigate the MLIR (multi-level intermediate representation) compilation artifact to uncover the root cause. Propose a comprehensive plan for rectification and, if feasible, implement the necessary fixes; validate the correctness and effectiveness of these solutions through unit tests and full-model tests; gather performance metrics for models that can run successfully.
