Job Description: • Design, install, and maintain vision inspection system and equipment specifically tailored for EV battery manufacturing; o Analyze customer’s battery production processes, including electrode manufacturing, cell assembly, and end-of-line inspection, to create detailed specifications for the vision systems in alignment with customer’s requirements; o Enhance the performance of existing camera infrastructure across all visual data parameters, including camera type, resolution, and spectrum, ensuring optimal vision system performance for EV battery manufacturing processes; o Collaborate with cross functional teams to seamlessly integrate vision solutions into the electric vehicle battery production line; o Monitor the processing, acquisition, and conversion of vision signals, employing advanced techniques in edge linking and boundary detection to improve system accuracy and reliability; o Collaborate with software engineers to program and configure sensors, actuators, and other components within a system to separate genuine defects from superficial flaws, determine if a flaw is within the within the acceptable range of variation, and flag unacceptable defects while accounting for variations such as reflective surfaces; • Develop and execute comprehensive testing procedures to validate the accuracy and reliability of vision systems throughout the entire battery manufacturing process; o Test-run and adjust equipment after installation to ensure compliance with customer specifications; o Monitor real-time defect detection to avoid manufacturing defects like surface damage, impurities, deviations from specified dimensions, or other anomalies; o Ensure the accuracy and reliability of vision inspection equipment through regular calibration and maintenance; o Investigate equipment failures or difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and recommend remedial actions;
• Provide troubleshooting and routine maintenance services to keep the vision systems running smoothly; o Regularly review and analyze production results to identify areas for improvement; o Consult with customer companies’ engineers and technicians regarding the proper operation of the system; o Prepare documents for validation protocols, assembly instructions, preventative maintenance, and calibration (PMC) in addition to CAD component and assembly drawings; and
• Conduct case studies in machine vision design, focusing on illumination and structured light, reflectance and color, geometrical optics, and algorithms to develop cutting-edge solutions for new applications within the EV battery manufacturing field.
Job Requirements: • BS in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning principles, particularly their integration and application in smart manufacturing environments. • Prior work experience in vision system installation, calibration, and maintenance in the battery manufacturing industry.
