Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Lead Health Data Analyst collects, analyzes and synthesizes data; develops information to guide business decision making for BSC populations' health management, cost of health care management, quality of care, and network design and strategies.
This role is an individual contributor role
Responsibilities include but are not limited : -
Mastery of Associate, Intermediate and Senior level responsibilities. Independently writes reports and presents data in formats such as abstracts, graphs or summaries.

Develops technical specs and develops and executes work plans that may involve collaboration with more than one team.

Coordinates the design of reports that integrate data from multiple sources, including design of reporting systems and standardization of metrics and formats across departments and functional areas.

Designs, builds and enhances database systems and applications for complex, high level reporting requirements.

Critically reviews and revises existing systems and applications for update and enhancement.

Identifies systems and operational problems and recommends solutions and changes to streamline procedures for more effective reporting.

Manages complex business reporting system design and implementation, including systems for QA and report documentation.

Functions as facilitator and/or mentor for data reporting projects, teams and task forces.

Provides training and mentoring for team members on best practices for analysis and reporting; assists in the development of supplemental analytic training tools and materials.

Supplies consultative advice to analysts in other departments and business units regarding standard business rules and algorithms.

Provides coordination and oversight of peer review of accuracy, completeness and report/system design and implementation.

Assesses business risks relating to back up for reporting design and production and develops and implements plans to mitigate risks.

Coordinates interaction between data analysis teams and support functions including information systems, provider relations and medical management.

Collaboration/leadership role in the critical review and ongoing development of data management and systems for strategically important enterprise-wide reporting.

Ad hoc assignments as requested.
Qualifications:
Education/Requirements: - Requires an MPH, MBA, MS, MA in science, social science, public health, health services research or business, or BA/BS with demonstrated equivalent work experience.
- Position requires 5 to 10 years experience in Health Care (managed care, academic, or gov't payer).
- Extensive SAS experience required. SAS Certification(s) preferred
- MS Office, esp. advance Excel skills and Access, Unix, SQL/PL-SQL,SAS, Tableau, Business Objects preferred. Must be able to develop new SAS programs and SQL scripts that improve the efficiency of the work of others.
- Demonstrated ability to work with clinical coding systems (e.g., ICD9, CPT, DRG, LOINC, RxHUB).
- Experience Level: Typically has 5 or more years experience as a Health Data Analyst, Medical Economist or related role in a managed care setting.
