Job Description
Responsible for conducting engineering work requiring good judgment in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Designs projects with minimal daily supervision and continually develops project management skills to represent the company in project meetings. Developing communication skills required to manage the flow of information on projects and work efficiently as a consultant. Provides quality control by checking calculations and documents. Meets project deadlines and design budgets under the direction of the President.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PRODUCTION
Works to develop designs of more complex components or overall design of simple structures.
Completes design calculations by hand and using various types of computer software for analysis and design.
Learns provisions IBC, ASCE-7, and material-specific codes and how to apply them.
Provides quality-control checks of ones own work.
Provides quality-control checks of other Structural Engineers, Engineering Interns and Senior Structural Designers and Structural Designers.
Accomplishes reference research.
Familiarizes self with new construction products.
Works collaboratively with staff at the company's Group.
Checks shop drawings and product submittals.
Provides field observation during construction
Designs small to medium size projects or individual systems on large complex projects.
Coordinates, organizes, and checks complete projects between plans, details, notes, and specifications.
Writes reports.
Serves as a mentor and resource for Engineer Interns regarding design techniques, software, and code questions.
Follows the QA/QC plan that is established for the project.
Monitors design budgets and project schedules, and communicates with the Client as needed for project success.
Manages their own work activities and those of the technical and support staff.
Leads communications with our Client, Design Professionals, Contractor, Trade Subcontractor, and others in the project.
Develops rapport with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
Uses Revit Structure on a limited basis only for coordination, communication, and in a detailing role on complex items.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
EIT, or PE.
Engineering Degree with Structural Emphasis, Master's Degree in Structural Engineering Preferred
