Regular, Full-Time, Limited Term (not to exceed June 16, 2025), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Telecommunications and Social Informatics Research Program (TASI), Pacific Health Informatics Data Center Research Program, located in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
MONTHLY SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications.
DUTIES: Assists with planning, implementing, operating and maintaining information systems following a systems development life-cycle methodology. Assists with processes to manage system operations, infrastructure, security, and business processes. Assists with the implementation of system security processes, including but not limited to system and log monitoring, extracting logs for reporting, vulnerability scanning and remediation, configuration management, access control, system maintenance, backup, and disaster recovery. Researches IT needs and requests. Researches and identifies solutions/alternatives for systems. Assists with providing systems specifications and documentation for hardware and software requirements, alternatives, cost, and operations considerations. Assists with providing end user technical support, which includes to Zoom administration, personal computer (PC) troubleshooting, and email support.
Job Requirements: PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field. (Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or related field and two (2) years of related experience may substitute for a Bachelor’s Degree.). EXPERIENCE: One to three (1-3) years of experience in information systems management; database management, IT systems and server troubleshooting; data security polices and standards in domain areas, confidentiality, integrity, and availability; personal computer (PC) server, network, access, or operations. Includes experience with Health Information Technology systems. KNOWLEDGE: Basic knowledge of at least two (2) of the following: Virtual Machines (VMWare), Cisco firewalls, routers and switches, Dell Firewall, Microsoft Server, SQL database, Active Directory (AD), and Moodle. Working knowledge of Windows and Mac and server troubleshooting. Working knowledge of programming structure and convention. ABILITIES & SKILLS: Ability to use computer operating systems (e.g., network, desktop, server/mainframe) and office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). Ability to troubleshoot PC, printer, and server issues. Proficient with Windows OS and Linux OS. Programming skills using one (1) or more of the following: C Variance, Python, SQL, Java, Mac and Windows and UNIX utilities. Good communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to research, document, report, and present data. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months. PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted. POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT: As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies, procedures, and trainings and, as applicable, subject to the University of Hawai‘i's TASI/PHIDC Research Program HIPAA/PHI privacy and security policy and the HIPAA/PHI privacy and security policy of various cooperating entities/organizations. Violation of the RCUH's, the UH's, or the business entity's policies and/or procedures or applicable State or Federal laws and/or regulations may lead to disciplinary action (including, but not limited to possible termination of employment, personal fines, civil and/or criminal penalties, etc.). Must complete the University of Hawai‘i's TASI/PHIDC Research Program HIPAA/PHI privacy and security training and the HIPAA/PHI privacy and security of various cooperating entities/organizations, training immediately after hire or not later than employee’s initial exposure to HIPAA/PHI. Must maintain a current status on the University’s and/or the business entity's training requirements.
SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and experience in the use of technologies used by the TASI/PHIDC projects including but not limited to Tenable Nessus. CompTIA Security+, Network+, and CCNA Certification. Information Systems Security Professional certification. Information Security Manager certification. Experience with cloud computing technologies and platforms (e.g., Amazon EC2, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud). Experience with open-source tools (e.g., Mirth, Zimbra, Icinga2, ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana, Ansible, CentOS, VeraCrypt, GPG4Win). Experience with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana). Experience with Cisco, Dell, and SonicWALL hardware. Experience with AlienVault or other security information and event management (SIEM) solutions. Experience with SAS Server and SAS Viya.
