Job Description:

Position Summary:
This position will assist the Director of Accounting in the management of the accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.

  • Responsible for month end close out of books for the company and all subsidiaries.

  • Oversee the daily reconciliation activities of the accounting department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal monthly financial statements and annual audits.

  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data, and enhance the company's value.

  • Review general ledger and company financials to ensure accuracy.

  • Review Accounts Payable runs for accurate payments.

  • Perform variance analysis. Research and identify significant variances and provide detailed explanations.

  • Update general ledger system for new products and services.

  • Assists in auditor and regulatory inquiry and requests.

  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.

  • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner.

  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibility
This position is responsible for supervising the accounting and accounts payable departments and staff.

Position Type:
This position is a full-time, exempt position. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Travel:
Travel is not expected for this position.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This position uses office equipment such as computers, phones, copy and fax machines, calculators, filing cabinets and printers.

Physical Demands:
This position will be responsible for writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), driving, carrying, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching.

Mental Demands:
The incumbent in this position must be able to accommodate to reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, customer contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions.

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and 10+ years of hands-on accounting managerial experience.

  • CPA certification preferred

  • Public Accounting experience or prior banking experience required

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries from internal clients, regulatory agencies, and employees



  • Experience in documentation and testing of internal controls related to FDIC

  • Advanced knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank operational policies.

  • Intermediate skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; and word processing, spreadsheet, and account opening software programs.

  • Advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, with advanced use of Excel.

  • Advanced math skills, including time value of money calculations.

  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.

  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
