The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs all laboratory tests run in-house. Proficient in running all laboratory equipment. Professional certification required.

Job Responsibilities
Position Title: Medical Laboratory Technician
Shifts Available: Day Shift, Monday-Friday
Location: Pinehurst, NC
Successful candidates for the Medical Laboratory Technician:
Performs all duties and demonstrates behaviors and attitudes consistent with the Mission Statement and Core Values of the organization.
Consistently demonstrates commitment to customer service excellence in all interactions with patients, family members, visitors and other staff that are consistent with the Customer Service performance standards.
Continually participates in building and maintaining positive working relationships through effective communication, performance improvement and teamwork efforts. Demonstrates the ability to clearly and effectively communicate (to include reading, writing, and speaking) to all patients, family members, visitors and other staff members with the expectation that each employee, within the context of their specific job duties, can read, interpret, understand, and communicate clearly and effectively in order to ensure proper understanding, all written/verbal communication are followed and information is shared appropriately.
Demonstrates, maintains and upholds expectations set forth in the organizational Code of Conduct.
Actively participates in the safety programs of the organization by identifying potential risks and promoting patient safety as well as environmental safety.
Accomplishes individual and team goals and objectives established by supervisor based on prior performance evaluation.
Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Additional responsibilities of the Medical Laboratory Technician include:
Responsible for the performance of in house laboratory tests which may include collection of specimens.
Maintains positive specimen identification throughout the laboratory testing and reporting process.
Demonstrates the ability to work in all technical areas of the laboratory. Must understand all of the equipment and occasionally trouble shoot the instrument performance.
Able to open the lab in the morning and close down the lab in the evening.
Prepares reagents, solutions, and stains.
Recognizes abnormal lab values. Follow protocol for rechecking, accepting, and calling results to the physician or designated clinical person.
Assists the Lab Manager in maintaining supplies and in ordering supplies.
Maintains appropriate records (QC, specimen, instrument maintenance, etc.) as required..
Performs other duties as assigned.

Candidate will possess certification as an MLT with an accredited agency.
Previous experience performing moderate and high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions and procedures, medical terminology, and memos. Ability to write detailed procedures and instructions. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to employees of the organization.
Basic Computer Skills and accessing applicable programs
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical problem solving involving laboratory results, formulas and minimal quantitative analysis.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situation.
