JOB DESCRIPTION
Our Transparency Analytics team provides negotiation support, network assessment/analysis, the cost of healthcare data reporting, financial forecasting/projections, performing financial and risk analysis in changes to provider contracts in order to help Blue Shield of California meet its goals of providing low-cost healthcare and meeting earnings objectives.
The team seeks a Health Data Consultant who is well versed in healthcare/health plan analytic to serve as a subject matter expert, liaison, and advisor in order to build effective relationships with external business partners and with the Blue Shield of California to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
This is an individual contributor role that reports to and works as partners with the Transparent Analytics Manager-Finance.
Responsibilities include:

Developing, interpreting and implementing financial and medical concepts for financial tools and model

Designing and producing analyses/reports for department and/or management

Overseeing the end to end process (from data creation, fulfilling compliance requirement to member experience)

Creating, maintaining and producing timely various standard analytic reports for internal and/or external use.

Researching and preparing evaluations on a variety of projects/problems (financial, statistical, operational and cost/benefit analyses)

Analyze changes in provider reimbursement terms and recommends more cost efficient alternatives and explain to the provide

Analyze product designs and their impact on Blue Shield's health transparency tool

Provide peer review and technical training to junior staff
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required with at least a minor in mathematics, statistics, computer science
- 5+ years of healthcare/health plan analytic experience
- 2+ years of SAS experience
- VBA/Python programming preferred
- Actuarial experience is a plus
