Job Description:
WIVB/WNLO is looking for a producer for its new weekday lifestyle show. The producer works closely with the show host as well as other staff to create the most entertaining and locally reflective show in the market, and will include both sponsored and creative content, on broadcast and digital platforms, and the station’s social media assets. Successful candidates must have excellent time-management and organizational skills. Strong written and oral communication skills are also necessary to maintain an efficient, effective production.
Show producer must be able to manage multiple production projects, communicate well with multiple departments (News, Sales, Programming, Creative Services) and be able to make quick and sound editorial decisions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Deciding which segments, guests and stories are of most interest to our audience, both broadcast and digital consumers.
• Writing compelling content focused for our audience.
• Constructing show rundowns, and stacking/blocking of the program
• Work with sales department to plan regular segments and programs
• Ability to calmly handle last minute changes and come up with quick solutions
• Ability to write compelling teases to bring in viewers.
• Time broadcasts and insure they are clean and correct on the air.
• Create content for broadcast, online, and social media
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, communications, or related field of equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• At least two years of experience producing local broadcast.
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with both coworkers and the public.
• Proficiency with I-News, and Adobe Creative Cloud
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
