Description:



Blue Shield sees Labor & Trust as one of its primary growth segments and the company is very committed to enhancing our value proposition, capabilities and work force. Blue Shield is a key player in the Labor & Trust market in California and nationwide.


We are seeking a professional with diverse skills to join us in a Labor & Trust hybrid role which includes both sales as well as client management responsibil ities. The responsibilities will be split: 40% new sales, 40% retention and 20% membership growth. You will be assigned a book of business and would be responsible for retention. The sales territory includes all Labor & Trust Funds located throughout Northern California, irrespective of where the broker or consultant relationship lies.



Responsibilities:





  • Selling Labor & Trust group health plans throughout assigned California territory including soliciting proactive bids and leading proposal responses.

  • Provide guidance around capabilities enhancements and help to develop and continually refine a differentiation strategy.

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with leading Labor & Trust consultants.

  • Manage and retain assigned book of business, developing and enhancing client relationships. Develop proactive account management plan(s).

  • Knowledge share and help to educate our Labor & Trust segment on Labor trends and how to navigate the complex L&T environment.

  • Co-develops and drives Blue Shield's L&T sales strategy, working with internal company functions to identify opportunities and priorities.

  • May be called upon to assist with select renewals for Labor & Trust business.





Qualifications:




Education/Requirements:





  • Bachelor's degree and five to ten years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience and established relationships within the Labor & Trust market critical.

  • DOI Life/Health License required.

  • Technical understanding of health care industry, ASO, PPO, POS, HMO, CDHP, managed indemnity, alternate funding arrangements, contract and underwriting/rating knowledge.

  • Strong familiarity with the competition, market environments, healthcare economics, medical practices and provider/alternative delivery systems.

  • Financial knowledge of managed care and contract negotiations.

  • Solid financial negotiating skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong business instincts combined with planning and marketing skills are essential, balanced with the highest ethical standards that naturally convey the importance of personal integrity.

  • The ability to articulate/communicate marketing and technical subjects to a broad and diverse audience.

  • Ability to develop and maintain deep relationships with influential people in the market.

  • Highly refined client interfacing skills.

  • Proven ability to adapt client needs and innovation in creating strategic solutions and partnerships that may challenge the status quo.

  • Demonstrate clear, effective sales strategies for selling health, dental, and vision.
