Job Description:
Sr. Civil Engineer is needed to perform the following duties:
Identify and fulfil NYC department of building reviewed requirements for construction permit purpose
Review, monitor and comply with Building code, safety protocols, project documentations, drawings, specifications. Perform and manage filed inspection, permits, fillings etc. Review temporary structure/construction equipment like suspended scaffold, pipe scaffold, side-walk bridge and crane placement drawings and verify the field condition meeting required construction calculations, drawings, and applicable local codes.
Monitor and run multiple construction projects simultaneously. Create, analyze, and submit field shop-drawings, as-built drawings, and submittals.
Interpret design/drawings and specifications to resolve construction and design issues for the completion of the project and to ensure specifications are followed.
Assist in meeting changing job requirements by preparing drawings and sketches to support construction work, change orders etc. Engage in negotiating with different trades and bidding of contract. Coordination with site super, Contractors, subcontractors, vendors, Architects, foreman, team members, clients. Managing day-to-day construction activities on jobsite. Manage Submittals & Submittals log and RFI & RFI Logs. Identify and order long lead items for construction project.
Perform field inspection for installed public safety and construction equipment such as Sidewalk shed, pipe scaffold, crane/boom operations.
Contract cost control and budgeting. Attend bi-weekly and progress meeting with the Owner, Contractors, Architect of record and vendors.
Project scheduling including identification and completion of critical path for construction. Audit for progressive construction activities on field to verify the work.
Perform and manage field inspection, project documentation, engineering calculations, filling of records with the appropriate building department
Verify designed scope of work satisfying the American construction codes few but not limited to American society of structural steel (AISC), International building code (IBC), American concrete institute (ACI 318-14), Minimum design loads for buildings and other structures (ASCE 7-10), The Masonry Society code (TMS 402/602-16)
Coordination of the building construction and ensure the permit/constructability requirements are met with different neighboring owner agencies such as NYC Parks, DOT, NYC Sanitation, DOB etc. and to analyze and to incorporate the various required code such as AASTHO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation officials), NYC Department of building etc.
Prepare, submit and get approval of Welding procedure, steel bill of material, Reinforcement bar and bending shop-drawings etc.
Prepare, submit and get approval of various masonry construction such as Parapet wall, face-brick replacement, structural stability plan for the portion of a building being rehabilitated etc.
Testing and inspection of material being used for construction as per designed construction drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements such as American society for testing & material (ASTM).
Generate, Review and get approval of Excavated material & soil material plan from one site to the other site.
Schedule, attend and generate soil sampling field inspections to determine the physical properties of the soil being excavated. Based on the findings determine if the excavated soil can be reuse or need to import the soil from borrow site.
Schedule, attend and inspect the soil compaction, percolation and density test on-field.
Uses of the computational software like Tedds, Tekla, AutoCAD, Abaqus etc. to determine the BIM models, to enact the drawings and to alter as needed during the process of construction
Bachelors Degree is required in Civil Engineering
