Job Description:
The Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Hospital seeks a PhD epidemiologist or biostatistician to collaborate with investigators on basic, clinical, and population research in adolescent/young adult health. Current research areas of interest in the Division include, but are not limited to, studies on sexual behavior, substance use, mental health, eating disorders, obesity, nutrition, bone health, community programs, sexual minority youth, and transgender care. The position includes dedicated time working with the Division’s Digital Wellness Lab on their projects investigating media and adolescent health, including analysis and reporting of data from the Clinic for Interactive Media and Internet Disorders. Faculty appointment will be at the Harvard Medical School. The proposed rank for this position will be Assistant or Associate Professor in Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School. Academic rank at Harvard Medical School is commensurate with experience, accomplishments, scholarship, national recognition, etc. The candidate’s responsibilities include collaborating with investigators to define the appropriate design, analysis and reporting of research studies, grant applications, and teaching short courses and mentoring adolescent medicine trainees and junior faculty in statistical methodology.
The successful candidate will have a doctorate in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, or a related field, at least 1 year of post-doctorate work experience, excellent oral and written communication skills, a commitment to collaborative research, and a strong interest in adolescent health. Experience and expertise are highly desired in such areas as multi-level modeling, longitudinal study design and data analysis, structural equation modeling-based techniques including latent class analysis, latent growth mixture modeling, and mediation analysis.
