Description:



The Lead IT Communications Specialist is responsible for developing strategic communication and change strategies and plans to achieve IT's communication and change management objectives. The lead is also responsible for managing a portfolio of strategically focused communication and change management projects, integrating new media into the department's core channel portfolio, and developing and executing change plans to support both IT and business driven strategic projects.

The successful candidate will be a team player, strategic, collaborative, and a communication and change subject matter expert. The candidate will be responsible for creating programs that drive interconnectedness and collaboration across IT and throughout the organization by leveraging core communications channels and engagement events.

This position plays a critical role in driving "line of sight" to strategic goals and execution, promoting, supporting, and implementing the interests and goals of the Information Technology Business Unit and its leadership for both the organization as well enterprise-wide.


Responsibilities include:

  • Develop strategic communication and change strategies and plans to achieve IT's communication and change management objectives, including establishing key messages, sequencing communication deliverables, maximizing core channels, and managing the editorial calendar

  • Support strategic project communications by developing and executing communication plans, developing and executing change management plans, developing and managing stakeholder engagement, and providing consultation

  • Manage communication processes and core channels, including leader blogs, articles, our internal business collaboration/social media/SharePoint platforms and websites, digital communication, email and ecards, and presentations

  • Manage a portfolio of communication projects that support IT's strategic goals and initiatives, including intake process, assignments, status, and support

  • Develop a change management strategy that facilitates adoption of new and improved systems and processes across the organization

  • Create and implement a change management plan that ensures change impacts and stakeholders are clearly identified and managed, that employee engagement is maximized, and resistance is minimized

  • Ensure that standard change management disciplines are integrated into appropriate strategic project implementations

  • Assess the department's portfolio of core channels and determine the optimal mix of media needed to enhance communication delivery, including research, assessment, selection, and adoption

  • Communicate on behalf of the CIO and IT senior leadership to IT and the enterprise, including messaging and branding, strategy and planning, and culture and employee engagement

  • Identify and manage stakeholders, including the CIO, senior leadership teams (both IT and business), directors and managers, subject matter experts, power users, end users, IT and non-IT staff, contractors and contingent workers, vendors, and other targeted groups

  • Implement feedback mechanisms and processes to ensure that communication plan execution meets expectations, making adjustments as necessary

  • Ensure that pertinent information on initiatives and key events is accessible on appropriate internal business collaboration/social media/SharePoint platforms and that the information is relevant, timely, and easy to understand

  • Promote the usage of our internal business collaboration/social media/SharePoint platforms, driving IT and non-IT staff to the site for quick, accurate, and relevant information

  • Administer and coordinate key surveys and evaluations, including design, structure, content, delivery method, collection, analysis, recommendations, and follow-up






Qualifications:





  • Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience in delivering strategic and tactical internal communications or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Degree in Communications, Internal Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Organizational Development, English, or related disciplines preferred

  • Experience with Change Management / Change Adoption

  • Major corporation experience preferred

  • Experience with IT clients preferred

  • Experience with intranet or interactive media and other web-based communication vehicles are a plus
