Job Description:
Provide piano and other instrumental accompaniment for music classes, choral groups, vocal ensembles and soloists, rehearsals, performances, and other school activities for public high school from grades 9 to 12. Prepare materials, instruments, and classrooms for class activities in order to refine and broaden instrument knowledge and practice; Lead and instruct classes on musical conventions, symbols, and concepts through lectures and demonstrations, from introductory to advanced levels; Establish clear objectives for all music lessons and communicate those objectives to students; Adapt teaching methods to meet needs and interests of students, whether individually or in small groups; Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations; Observe and evaluate students' musical performances inside and outside of class; Direct and manage school musical productions, concerts, and choir arrangements; Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe and practice; Confer with parents or guardians, other teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems; and, Prepare, administer, and grade tests and in-class assignments to evaluate students' progress.
