
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager of Billing & Collections is responsible for management of the billing, e-billing and collection functions in the Department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee the firm's billing, e-billing, and collections efforts, ensuring compliance with firm policies and procedures in the most efficient manner. Monitor work levels and meet regularly with staff regarding current issues and work status.
2. With collections staff, monitor client account balances for compliance with the firm's Stop Work Policy. Work with attorneys or clients when there is an identified risk due to an increase in unbilled or uncollected fees.
3. Perform supervisory duties including staff development/guidance, annual performance evaluations, time-off approval, and corrective actions.
4. Provide support to firm leadership regarding new clients and new matter intake, assessment of financial viability of new and recurring clients, exception billing rates, analysis of alternative and non-standard billing arrangements, approval of write-downs and write-offs, matter closure, and accounts receivable management.
5. Continuous process improvement and best practice implementation. Coordinate development, enhancements, and administration of related financial systems. Liaise with vendors as needed.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business.
WORK EXPERIENCE: Four to six years of business or financial management experience. Must possess demonstrated management ability; excellent interpersonal,verbal, and written communication skills; pro-active/self-starter; proficiency with MS Excel; and the ability to prioritize duties and meet deadlines.
PREFERRED:
Elite 3E and eBillingHub experience highly desired.
