RSMAS - Research Associate II - CIMAS Job

The Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies (CIMAS) of the University of Miami, Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS) has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Research Associate II position to work in Miami, Florida.

The position is concerned with software development and will involve close collaboration with scientists at RSMAS and the NOAA Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML).


Duties include but are not limited to:

• develop software,


• design an ERDDAP server for NOAA's Global Drifter Program (GDP), to distribute GDP data and metadata,


• transition legacy Fortran programs, and


• analyze and distribute data onto the Global Telecommunications System

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, mathematics, or a related field, and at least 2 years of relevant experience in database management and software development.

Necessary skills include:

• experience with Linux operating systems,


• designing software,


• programming in high-level languages (namely Matlab, Python, or Fortran), and


• the ability to well document new programs/designs.
