Job Description:
The Analytical Chemist will be a vital member of a contract GLP Product Chemistry Lab located in Sumter, SC. The Analytical Chemist will support the contract business by:
- Develop, optimize, and validate robust analytical methods for the analysis of pesticide, herbicide and fungicide formulations and technical grade active ingredients (TGAI)
- Participate in preparing/reviewing SOPs and other documentation
Desired Skills and Experience
The following experience is desired for this position:
- A minimum of a B.S. in chemistry or related field with a minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience required.
- Must have a demonstrated working knowledge of the operation of and maintenance of common analytical laboratory instruments such as Gas Chormatography-MS and LC-MS, particularly small molecules.
- Proven experience with Agilent 6520 Q-TOF LC/MS with 1200 series HPLC a plus.
- Must have a practical working knowledge of the operation of and maintenance of common analytical laboratory instruments such as Gas Chromatography and HPLC and possess a willingness to learn additional techniques and instrumentation.
- Must be able to run unknown samples in these instruments and use the data produced to analyze, characterize, and validate the components and defend these findings to others.
- Demonstrated technical competency and the ability to learn new skills, technical subject matter, and the ability to apply broad technical knowledge to solve specific problems.
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, optimize and validate LC-MS, Gas Chromatography-MS and other methods for the analysis of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides.
- Prepare written instructions (SOP's, methods etc.) to ensure samples will be analyzed in the most accurate manner possible.
- Operate in compliance with current Good Laboratory Practices requirements.
- Document and record observations and results according to written SOP's.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Efforts by identifying work-practices to reduce costs and/or improve throughput and quality.
