Job Description:
Williamsburg Regional Library, a nationally recognized, star-rated library, is looking for a creative, energetic, and experienced graphic design professional to join our forward-thinking team! WRL contributes to a strong, informed, and resilient community by providing access to resources, programs, and public spaces. WRL delivers outstanding and equitable library services to all members of a diverse region.
As our Graphic and Web Designer, you will work to conceptualize, design and execute creative materials that consistently and clearly communicate the brand identity and messaging of the library across all brand touch points (including print, web, and social media). This position requires a graphic artist who enjoys conceptual challenges and can work within tight deadlines.

Responsibilities:
• Serves as library graphic designer and consultant for library administration and library divisions in creation of print and web-based materials.
• Creates, develops, and produces a variety of original layouts and designs including web pages, logos, enhanced/manipulated photos and illustrations for programs, brochures, newsletters, posters, flyers, and advertisements.
• Creates conceptual designs and sample layouts for print and digital production.
• Assists with production and maintenance of web pages; logically organizes information using appropriate web page design software.
• Creates and edits video content to highlight library events, programs, and services; exports or converts video files to various file formats.
• Assists the Marketing and Communications Manager with the maintenance and monitoring of the library’s YouTube channel.
• Participates in library-wide committees or projects, as needed.
Job Requirements:
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related arts field; considerable experience in the field of graphic and web design; experience producing creative, high-quality graphics, illustrations, and layouts for print and/or web projects using design tools including Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and SketchUp), WordPress, and others as required; ability to design web graphics; experience in creating video content.
• Must possess reliable transportation to work site(s).
• Knowledge of printing and production requirements to properly design and use photos (scanning, cropping, color correcting, and sizing), graphics and text for optimal printing and web publishing; graphic design and illustration techniques and equipment; computer desktop publishing software and techniques.
• Ability to use time effectively, prioritize a variety of complex projects, manage deadlines and work independently.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people inside and outside of the library; work collaboratively and be open to feedback; and maintain confidentiality of information.
