The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate. The main duties of the Postdoctoral Associate will be to assist with obtaining blood and tissue samples from patients and setting up and performing research laboratory analyses of these samples and/or derived cell lines. The primary goal of the laboratory is to better understand early glioblastoma response to therapy, and use that information to modify therapy based on a patients early response. The research work performed in the principal investigator's laboratory is in line with the overall mission of the School of Medicine, in particular in enhancing human health by advancing discoveries from the laboratories to patients.



  • Conduct experiments of patient blood, patient tissue, derived cell lines, and mice in collaboration with the principal investigator, other investigators in the department, and other laboratory members.

  • Planned experiments currently include: ELISA (single and multiplex), circulating tumor cell capture and analysis, analysis of circulating tumor DNA in blood, and MALDI-TOF of tumor tissues.

  • Keep meticulous records of samples received and experiments performed on those samples

  • Record data and analyze results.

  • Assist in developing improved, additional, and/or alternative techniques and procedures.

  • Obtain and process samples with assistance from physicians, pathology, study coordinators, and clinical laboratory

  • Additional studies including cell line (e.g. culture and maintenance of cell lines, especially PDX) and animal experiments (e.g. including injection of PDX cells into experimental animals) may also be required.

  • Order and stock reagents, maintain laboratory inventories, and maintain laboratory environment and equipment

  • Train and assist with new staff and students


Minimum Qualifications



  • Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in a biological science or health discipline

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
