Job Description:

The Department of Orthopedics is currently seeking a Research Laboratory Technician. The incumbent in this position cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates laboratory equipment. Keeps records of research data and assists in analyzing it. Maintains inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and places orders in a timely fashion. Proofreads and assists in the writing of manuscripts, grant proposals, and lab protocols. Prepares reports of experiment results. Performs research by completing simple experiments or steps in more complicated studies. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.



  • Runs cell culture experiments and assays.

  • Prepares reports of experiment results

  • 1 year experience in cell culture, gel electrophoresis and Western Blot.

  • Candidates must also have valuable experience with laboratory etiquette and safety, weekly laboratory meeting presentations and report writing.

  • Perform basic science bench experiments and basic laboratory techniques such as tissue culture and Western blot.

  • Maintain database records, collect, and analyze research data in compliance with study protocols.

  • Duties will involve working in a laboratory space with equipment such as freezers, refrigerators, incubators, laminar flow hood, incubators, and other delicate instrumentation.

  • Organizes and performs experimental procedures as defined in project meetings with PI.

  • Must maintain good laboratory records, be organized and responsible, with excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Discusses progress of work regularly with supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  • High School diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Science, Biology or related area)

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
