About This Position

The University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine/UHealth System's Department of Healthcare Supply Chain has a great opportunity for a full-time Manager, Sourcing. The Manager, Sourcing, assists the Executive Director, Sourcing, in establishing the direction of the Supply Chain Services (SCS) sourcing processes (contracting) and vendor management for multiple assigned portfolios of products and services. The primary focus of this position is to use effective sourcing strategies and vendor management techniques to create agreements and vendor relationships that meet the University's needs at the lowest possible cost. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing a team of senior contract specialists.

  • Leads non-clinical/purchased services team of senior contract specialists.

  • Manages value analysis committees including but not limited to support services, pharmacy, facilities, clinical engineering and information technology.

  • In conjunction with the rest of SCS and the Value Analysis Committee (VAC), identifies opportunities to meet annual savings targets.

  • Manages contract projects to completion.

  • Establishes positive working relationships with vendors and customers.

  • Collaborates with the VAC and prepares timely and accurate materials for presentation to them.

  • Applies strategic and logical thinking to business situations.

  • Provides guidance/advice to subordinate staff on a variety of procurement issues including the development of bids and contracts.

  • Works with Purchasing to support contract compliance and supplier performance management.

  • Reviews bids and contracts negotiated by the team prior to escalating them for signature approvals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Management or related field.

  • Minimum five years' related experience including in a supervisory role.

  • Knowledge of business and management principles.

  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.

  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.

  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.

  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration preferred.

  • Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or Certified Materials Resource Professional (CMRP) preferred.

  • Supply chain experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.

  • Knowledge of contract terms and conditions.

  • Ability to analyze and revise complex documents.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience in managing multiple and diverse stakeholder groups.

  • Exceptional relationship management skills to effectively execute strategic solutions with senior stakeholders and key suppliers.

  • Ability to review and analyze key external trends and influences from a wide range of information used to support the development of sourcing plans.

  • Change management experience and delivery.

  • Understanding of University goals and operations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

  • Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
