Financial Aid Scholarship Coordinator

This position reports to the Financial Aid Manager and is responsible for managing the awarding of scholarships created from the student portion of federal funding allocated to assist schools with the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. This position is responsible for coordinating with other Waubonsee departments to insure the timely review of applications, awarding and disbursement of funds, monitoring student eligibility and reconciliation of disbursements, and the monthly reporting of awards made to the Dean for Institutional Effectiveness.
Assist with the review of applications and the awarding of federal funds received as a result of the pandemic.
Monitor the processes for students to apply for scholarships and for reviewing their eligibility consistent with the awarding of Title IV and other federal funds.
Make corrections or changes to students' awards as needed to be compliant with program regulations and/or institutional policy. This includes adjusting awards based on credit hours when students drop courses at 100% refund and monitoring academic progress consistent with the financial aid academic progress policy.
Perform reconciliation monthly to compare the amounts disbursed in Banner with awards added by financial aid and as a result of the application process. Report amounts awarded and disbursed to the Financial Aid Manager.
Run reports necessary to perform the federal scholarship program management functions and submit requests for modifications to these reports as needed.
In conjunction with Marketing, maintain the information on the Waubonsee website to provide current information on the availability of federal scholarships and encourage students to apply.
Stay current with state and federal regulations that affect the financial aid programs being managed and with the aid programs in general.
Advise students on financial aid processes, including their opportunities, rights, and responsibilities, and assist students in completion of applications. Respond to financial aid questions from students and parents.
Review documents submitted by students and parents to determine eligibility
Assist in updating scholarship awarding processes in the financial aid handbook.
Assist in preparing reports for and responding to audits by Federal and state agencies.
Attend necessary workshops and seminars.
Assist with financial aid aspects of recruitment, admission, enrollment and retention activities.
Conduct financial aid presentations for groups of current and prospective students as requested.
Provide office hours as required.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Financial Aid Manager or the Director of Student Financial Aid Services.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field required.
Two years customer service and/or accounting.
Two years financial aid processing preferred.
MS Office skills including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Excellent human relations and communications skills.
Ability to work closely and confidentially with students.
Good organizational skills.
