Job Description:

The Sarnoff Collection is seeking candidates for curator of the David Sarnoff Collection at TCNJ.

The curator will research, write, and produce exhibitions, temporary displays, and

programs, and supervise the museum assistant

Main Responsibilities:

  • Care for the collection, including maintaining accurate CMS records, monitoring storage and climate, and ensuring proper storage and handling of objects.

  • Conduct historical research on the collection

  • Curate, write, and produce temporary exhibitions and displays, including writing exhibition text, planning the display, and developing programming.

  • Maintain and update the Collection's website and OMEKA online exhibitions

  • With the Sarnoff student worker, create social media and other outreach/publicity for the collection and exhibitions

  • With the director, seek out grant opportunities and prepare grants for the collection and exhibitions.

  • Work with donors and collection volunteers, answer queries from the public.

Required Qualifications:

  • Years of experience 2

  • Degree PhD

  • Background in the history of science and/or technology

  • Demonstrated ability to research, write, and produce an historical exhibition for the Sarnoff Collection.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in history of science or technology

  • Interest in museums and public history, public programming

  • Collections management experience
