Job Description:
Support dental providers in delivering high quality care through treatment room preparation, chair side assistance, equipment maintenance, and maintaining a clean safe and efficient clinical environment. Duties include working with disabled and medically compromised patients, including head and neck oncology patients needing treatment before and after radiation treatments. Clinical duties will include: assisting the dentist chair side during dental procedures, including exams, cleanings, restorations, extractions, and specialty treatments; preparing patients in the exam room, reviewing medical history and explaining upcoming procedures; setting up and breaking down operatories before and after procedures, ensuring instruments and materials are properly prepared and disinfected; taking processing and mounting dental radiographs in accordance with state and federal regulations; performing coronal polishing, fluoride applications, sealants, or impressions (as permitted by state scope of practice); and assisting in managing dental emergencies per clinic protocols. Infection control and safety duties will include: sterilizing dental instruments and maintaining sterilization logs in compliance with OSHA and CDC guidelines; following proper infection control procedures including operatory disinfection, instrument processing, and handling of biohazard materials; and ensuring dental equipment is clean safe and functioning properly, reporting malfunctions promptly. Patient care and communication duties will include: providing preoperative and postoperative instructions to patients as directed by the dentist; educating patients on oral hygiene practices and appropriate care recommendations; and ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for all patients including those with anxiety or special needs. Administrative and operational tasks will include: maintaining accurate patient records and documentation in the dental practice management system; monitoring inventory of dental supplies and notifying supervisors when restocking is required; assisting with scheduling appointments confirming visits and supporting front office functions; collaborating with dentists and staff to support efficient clinic operations; and training newly graduated dentists on treatment and management approaches for vulnerable patient populations.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences or public health field

Experience: One (1) year of experience in dental office or clinical environment.

Skills: Experience using digital workflows, including All-on-X workflows; intraoral scanners (IOS); and electronic dental record-keeping.

Alternate Requirements:

Education: No degree

Experience: Three (3) years of in dental office or clinical environment.

Skills: Experience using digital workflows, including All-on-X workflows; intraoral scanners (IOS); and electronic dental record-keeping.
